Brazilian rapper NIINK is expanding his sound and ambitions with Essência de Risco, an 18-track project that brings together several generations of Brazilian hip-hop while also reaching beyond the country with a guest appearance from British rapper KidWild.
The album arrived in early October through Supernova Entertainment and follows NIINK’s previous projects Ainda no Mesmo Bairro and Pra Sempre no Mesmo Bairro. Rather than repeating the same themes and formulas that established him in Brazil’s trap scene, the São Paulo rapper uses Essência de Risco to explore ambition, prosperity, difficult decisions, confrontation and the risks involved in trying to change your circumstances. With appearances from Veigh, DJ KL Jay, Jotapê, LEALL, NandaTsunami, Sain, G.A, Danzo and KidWild, the album feels designed to connect NIINK’s own generation with different corners of Brazilian rap.
Risk Becomes the Album’s Central Idea
The title Essência de Risco — roughly “Essence of Risk” — provides the foundation for the entire project.
Rather than presenting risk purely as danger, NIINK treats it as something necessary for growth.
The album moves through themes of personal choices, ambition and the pressure that comes with attempting to move beyond the circumstances around you. Billboard Brasil notes that NIINK deliberately moves away from some of trap’s most common subject matter to spend more time discussing overcoming adversity, prosperity, strengthening yourself and accepting the consequences of your decisions. Billboard Brasil
That concept also appears throughout the project’s visual identity.
Fire is one of its central symbols, drawing from the Greek myth of Prometheus, who stole fire from the gods and brought it to humanity.
Within NIINK’s album, the imagery works as a metaphor for taking something powerful despite the consequences — fitting naturally with the record’s larger obsession with risk. Billboard Brasil
Veigh Joins NIINK on “Jeito MLK”
One of the album’s most immediate highlights is “Jeito MLK,” featuring Veigh.
The collaboration brings together two artists closely connected to São Paulo’s modern trap movement.
Veigh has become one of Brazilian trap’s most visible figures, while NIINK has steadily expanded his audience through the Supernova Entertainment ecosystem.
“Jeito MLK” gives the album one of its biggest-name collaborations while reinforcing the connection between artists shaping the current generation of São Paulo rap. Billboard Brasil
But Essência de Risco does not only look toward current trap stars.
NIINK also reaches back toward Brazilian hip-hop history.
DJ KL Jay Connects Two Generations
DJ KL Jay of Racionais MC’s appears on “Dezembro Sem Natal.”
His presence gives the album an important connection to one of the foundations of Brazilian rap.
Racionais MC’s helped define the sound, language and social perspective of Brazilian hip-hop decades before the current trap explosion. Having KL Jay appear alongside NIINK creates a direct bridge between that legacy and a younger São Paulo generation. Billboard Brasil
That generational mixture is one of the album’s strongest characteristics.
NIINK is clearly operating inside modern trap, but Essência de Risco does not present Brazilian rap as though its history began with streaming-era artists.
The guest list shows something broader.
Jotapê, LEALL, Sain and NandaTsunami Expand the Album
The collaborations continue throughout the project.
Jotapê joins NIINK on “Todos Esses Manos,” while NandaTsunami appears on “Cidade do Pecado.”
LEALL features on “Não Tema o Confronto,” Sain appears on “Arena,” and Danzo joins NIINK for “Trutas de Batalha.”
G.A contributes to “Entretenimento,” while British rapper KidWild provides the project with its international connection on “Me Tornei Ruim.” Billboard Brasil
The variety prevents the 18-track album from feeling like one extended posse cut.
Instead, different collaborators appear at strategic points while NIINK remains the central voice.
NIINK Took the Album Directly to the Streets
The rollout for Essência de Risco also matched its street-focused identity.
Before the project officially reached streaming services, NIINK took a JBL speaker to Vale do Anhangabaú in central São Paulo and played the album publicly for people in the area.
It was a simple promotional idea, but one that made sense for an artist whose music remains closely connected to São Paulo street culture. Billboard Brasil
The following day, NIINK went significantly bigger.
He organized a free event at Espaço Usine that attracted more than 1,000 people, performing material from the album alongside several of its featured artists. Billboard Brasil
Instead of relying entirely on social-media teasers and playlist promotion, the rollout gave listeners physical experiences with the music before and around its release.
An 18-Track Statement
Essência de Risco runs for approximately 48 minutes across 18 tracks.
The tracklist includes “Líderes (Intro),” “Maria Eu Pequei,” “Somos a Elite,” “Todos Esses Manos,” “Essência de Ri$co,” “Entretenimento,” “Jeito MLK,” “Dezembro Sem Natal,” “Limpe Suas Lágrimas,” “Cidade do Pecado,” “Me Tornei Ruim,” “Interlúdio,” “Não Tema o Confronto,” “Arena,” “Inveja dos Anjos,” “2014,” “Trutas de Batalha” and “A Fome Continua a Mesma.” Cifra Club
That final title — “A Fome Continua a Mesma,” or “The Hunger Remains the Same” — feels especially fitting for the larger album.
NIINK may be gaining visibility, bigger collaborations and a larger audience, but the project repeatedly returns to the idea that progress does not eliminate hunger.
It changes what is at stake.
NIINK Enters a Bigger Phase
With Essência de Risco, NIINK is making a clear attempt to move beyond simply being another name in Brazil’s crowded trap scene.
The record reaches backward through KL Jay, sideways toward artists including Veigh and Jotapê, across Brazil through LEALL, NandaTsunami and Sain, and internationally through KidWild.
At the center of it all remains NIINK’s own story.
The album argues that growth requires accepting uncertainty — and sometimes deliberately walking toward it.
For NIINK, Essência de Risco is less about avoiding danger than understanding that every meaningful move carries consequences.
And as his career grows, he appears increasingly willing to take those chances.
